Someone with a second home or interests in France but still live in the UK or other European Country. If you have an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) and require cover fro Pre-existing conditions while staying in France. You can calculate premium figures yourself by clicking here .

If you do not have an E106, E109, E121 or are in gainful employment, and do not qualify for the state scheme, it is a legal requirement to have Health Insurance in place. You will be asked to produce evidence of this within 90 days of arriving in France.

Which Option is best for you... If you are already living in France, you will probably have an idea of what to expect. If you are registered with your local CPAM office and have a Social Security reference number, you now qualify for state benefits (like our NHS). However, the state only provides 70% of costs and most people insure the difference with a ‘top-up’ insurance policy. If this is what you require. Click here for details
If you do not live in France or indeed cannot confirm acceptance with CPAM, you will need either a full medical insurance plan to cover you while living in France or indeed a ‘Holiday Top Up Plan’ to cover you while visiting. Click here for details
Unfortunately, it is not always as simple as either being a resident or not. You can join the CPAM system via other routes, especially if retiring or in receipt of invalidity benefits. If this is the case, you will need to obtain the correct paperwork from the Department of Work and Pensions. Click here for details
Unsure which option is best for you?
