Reduction in Securite Sociale payments for certain medicines

The ‘orange’ vignettes appear to have made a return after a two year absence.

As of 1st April 2010, the re-imbursement for certain medicines that fall in this category are being reduced to 15%.

It is part of the French government bid to cut the health system budget by around €145 million.

These medicines are apparently deemed “médicament de confort”.

The article says:

Voici les médicaments dont le taux de remboursement passera de 35% à 15% cette année. Il s’agit de marques ou de noms de substances. Pour certains produits, seules certaines indications, certains dosages ou certaines formes galéniques sont concernés. Cette liste est quasi-définitive mais elle peut encore être légèrement modifiée.
